A-HUNTING WE WILL GO

MARY

ANNE.

A-hunting we will go on Saturday and let us hope the weather will smile benevolently on that day and allow Dame Fashion to air to the full all her smart mid-winter creatirns. This is the first race meeting of the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club, and judging from the class of horses that have accepted and the interesting events scheduled for the meeting, patrons are promised a. good afternoon's enjoyment, and perhaps the ! thrill of a totalisator collection — at least for a chosen few. Of course, the colour scheme of milady's outfit will strike a much more sombre note than ' that of her summer race creation, but nevertheless tweeds and woollen ensembles never fail to look neat and chic on the lawn. I And then, there is t0 be the win and place tote — the Put and Take" as ! someone aptly referred to it the other 'day. It has a wonderful capacity for feminine half-crowns, but for myself I prefer to be rash where totoes are concerned and go for all or nothing on the straight-out win. Of course, if my hors comes second I will admit a stover of regret comes o'er me and I think yearningly of the "put and take." We have quite broken our record for race meetings this year — three in one season — our picking of winners should be excellent by this. But it isn't.
