A Womans Pluck.

A sensational story, the centrax feature of which emphasises the pluck and quickwittedness of a woman, was •circulated in Dunedin' last week. The wife of a local medical practitioner was reituring home from a round of golf when she was accosted in a lonely neighbourhood by a man, who demanded that she should hand over her money. Intimating her willingness, in the circumstances, to comply with his request, she asged the wouldbe robber to turn his back while she extracted her purse from her stockings. Indicating that chivalry is not entirely dead even amongst persons of his class, the man immediately turned his back, whereupon the woman, snatching a club from her golf-bag, struck him a severe blow on the back of the head, and whilst he was recovering his wits she fled from the scene. Before she was out of earshot, however, the threatening words. "I will see you again,' reaehed her ears.
