picture industry FIVE THOUSAND TECHNICIANS FOLLOW THEIR COMRADES WIDE CIRCLE AFFECTED Hollywood, July 25. The motion picture studios are endeavouring to maintain production. | To-day as 5000 more technicians struck, and union workers left their jobs, their sp'okesman said it was because the studios on Monday hire-d non-union men to replace 665 sound technicians, who had struck on Saturday. The producers attributed the trouble to an argument between two unions as to which had jurisdiction over the sound men. The sound men's organisation announced that studio musicians might strike by virtue of their trade agreements with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. It is estimated that a complete tieup of production would affect be- , tween 27,000 and 30,000 persons who j are gaining their livelihood in Holly- j wood.
