WOLF CUBS
COMMENT ON HAPPENINGS i |IN ROTORUA PACK Dear Cubs, Your Akela was telllinp me the other day how pleased she was to hear about the good turns done by some of you when returning home from Cubs. I think it is a good idea about tying a knot in the end of yonr searf, don't you? That is what the scouts do you know, to remind them to do their good turn. I hear that Trevor has been made a Sixer, and also that Desmond has been made a Second, and last, but not least, that George has been made a Senior Sixer. Con.gr atuliations to the three of you. Now for a short talk on your promise, which is as follows: — To do my duty to God and the King To keep the law of the Wolf Cub Pack, and To do a good turn to somebody every day. First of all there are four little words which are really very important — TO DO MY BEST. You. know them don't you ? The Sixer wh0 leads the Grand Howl calls out "Do your best" and you all reply "We'll do our best." So every time the Pack meets you remind yourselves of the promise you have made. Sometimes you may get down-hearted when you find it difficult to keep, but just grit your teeth and say, "That wasn't my best. I've got a better best than that, and I'm going to try harder." So every time you say the Grand Howl, say over to yourself what it really means. Next week I sha'll deal with the first part of your promise. — Yours cubbily, SILVER WOLF.
