The Labour Aldermen oppose the proposed visit and Mr. Walder, as chairman of the Finance Committee, pointed out that to make provision for the entertainment of the fleet, in the event of the invitation being accepted, the council would have to pass a special grant of about £15,000 to £20,000: There is no provision for such expenditure in the estimates for the current year. , , The Telegraph's Chicago eorrespondent says General Balbo's fleet may visit Australia later by the eastern route.
