TEAR GAS FOR LIONS
USED BY TRAINERS. I The plans of S. R. Brown, of London, and E. A. Stout, of Parral, Chi- , huahua, Mexico, to hunt South African lions with tear gas guns were made known recently at E1 Paso by Jay L. Herman, who received an order to supply the weapons. "The gas affectsthe. eyes, nostrils and throat," Mrl Herman said. "The animals will be blind for about two hours,. but will suffer no illness afterward. On Californian lion farms the gas has been used by trainers for sclf-protecbion. The 20-gauge gas-thrcwing guns will ca'st a cartridge 25 feet.
