Wellington, Fridqy "There is nothing in it," said an official of the National Union to-day, when questioned eoncerning th'e rumofir that a national strike pf unemployed is under consideration, " * "He added that a rircuiar letter asfe,ing hranches of the Union to express ' their views pn the subject hqs, been spnt to all parts of the Domjnion, pnd the replies indicate alniost unanimous opppsition to a strike. The exceptions were Ilawke's Bay and a section of relief workers jn Wellington pumbering not more than 400. A vqte taken at the Sutherland Crescent job showed 40 opposing a strike and eight in favour,* and at the Winter Show job, where a secret ballot was taken, there was a large majority against the proposal. Summed up, out of 43,000 men 1500 were in favour of a national strike.
