SUGGESTED IMPORTATION AS PROFITABLE DAIRY STOGK GOOD BUTTER-FAT ANIMAL
-By Telegraph — Copyright.
Wellington, Friday. "Inidia possesses an animal which yo.u could do with in New Zealand — the buffalo," said Mr* T. D. Ayo, principal of St. George's School. Agra, India, in an interview here today. M Ayo said that the milk of this animal contained ^t least 6.5 per cent hutter-fat whereas Jerseys, in New Zealand, seldom did better than 5 per cent. The best buffalos had tested at 7.5 per cent and the average yield of a huffalo which had heen well looked after would be 301bs of milk daily. Mr. Ayo is spending six months leave in New Zealand before retiring. He proposes to settle in the Dominion. He o.bserved that the qua.rantine restrictions in New Zealand made it diffipult to import buffalos owing to (the fact that foot and mouth disease existed in India.
