FARMERS' FIELD DAY

INTERESTING AND INSTRUCTIYE PROGRAMME ARRANGED Farmers of this district should note the fact that a "field day" has been arranged for Monday, July 10. The organisation of the gathering has been in the hands of Mr. C. Dalgliesh, Fields Instructor of the Agricultural Department and the programme provides for a very interesting and instructive day. It has been decided to assemble at Mr. H. M. M'artin's farm, Ngongotaha, at 12 xxoon, where a demonstration and address on wool, points and types of sheep will be given by Mr. McCullough, of the Farmers' Auctioneering Co. The party will then anake an inspection of Mr. H. M. Martin's milking shed which is recognised as being admirably suited for small dairy farms. While there Mr. Bux*rows, manager of the Ngongotaha Dairy Factory, will speak on the care of milking plants and cream. The piggeries will also receive a visit and Mr. Nixon will speak upon points, class and types. An adjournment will then be made to Mr. J. J. Smythe's milking shed to view another up-to-date equipment. Opposite this shed is Mr. Lennord's farm and it is proposed to inspect his herd of 104 cows which have returned a good average return of butter-fat per cow. If it can be ari*anged, Mr. Marshall, Government Veterinarian, will then deliver an address on treatment for parasitis troubles in young stock. At Mr. H. M. Martn's Oturoa farxn enslage, root crops (with varieties and diseases explained) and hay will be inspected and the best methods of stacking and covering the latter discussed. Finally, if time will permit, there will be an inspection of the herds of Messrs Martin, Branson and Dibley > with a lecturette on the points and type of a dairy cow by Mr. H. M. Martin.
