KING AND QUEEN ATTEND THE CEREMONY A NOTABLE GATHERING
Rugby, June 26. With imposing ceremonial, in the presence of a distinguished gathering, including the representatives of 121 universities and learned bodies iromallparts of the world, the King, accompanied by the Queen and attended by Lord Irwin, Minister of Education, laid the foundation stone of the new university of London buildings in Bloomsbury this aflertoon. Their Majesties drove through the dreets crowdod with sightseerS in an open landau with an eseort of Houseiold Cavalry. The vast newtbuilding which will ®ve as the centre of the largest university in the world, has been de%ied by Mr. Charles Holden. It will hl;e30 years to complete-. Guests were present from 32 universities in the Dominions, colonies snd 18 foreign universities from sev®teen countries. 't was the most cosmopolitan and tcademic gathering ever assembled.
