THIEVES USE EXPLOSIVES IN MANAWATU club ATTEMPT UNSUCCESS'FUL

Palmerston North, Monday Explosives were used on the saf e of ,the Manawatu Club on Sunday night but the attempt failed. The walls of the office w^re freely bespattered with plasticene which was used to pack the explosive into the keyhole. Entrance to the building was gained through a back window. This is the fifth occasion within the last two rnonths that burglars have used explosives on safes v^ithin a radius of 50 miles of Palmerston North. All the attempts have been made at the weekend.
