MR. McMILLAN DEFINITELY . RETURNED AT STRATFORD CLEAR-CUT MAJORITY

New Plymouth, Friday. Extraordinary interest was evinced in the second mayoral election at Stratford to-day. The voting resulted: —
At the election in May, the same candidates polled an equal numbey of votes, Mr. McMillan being appointed mayor on the toss of a coin. . Mr. McMillan's first act was to dismiss the electrical engineer, the streets' engineer and the parks curator and several others of the streets staff. A petition was lodged. against the election on various grounds, including irregularity at the counting, and a new election was ordered. Mr- Thomson had served as mayor for a term prior to the May election.
