SU CCESSFUL FUNCTION HELD ' IN AID OF SCHOOL FUNDS

A most successful children's plain and fancy dress dance was held in the Lyric Hall on Friday evening, the proeeeds of which were for the school funds. The function was organised by the School Committee, teaching staff and a ladies' conxmittee. Miss IB. Ensoll supplied the music and Mr. F. G. Kfbblewhite (head- • master) was M.C. During the evening;, Mr. A. E. Payne, chairman of the school committee, thanked the teachers and 'lad-' ies for the splendid way the function had been organised. He also thanked the parents and f riends for patronising the function and then called on His W orship1 the Ma.y oxv to pi-esent the, swimming cups. " . . Mr. Moody in congratulating the people upon the success of the dance said that it' also gave him much pleasure to present the swimming cups to the following- — Junior girls, Cissie Kahika; junior boys, Samuel Oooper; intermediate girls, Olive Collins; intermediate boys, Stewart Fleming; senior. girls, Norrice Davies; senior boys, Arthur Jephson. " Monte carlo dances were won ^ by Bobby Warrington and John Baird; Tom Murray and Murray Reeves.
