The eommittee had considered tho reply arid f orwarded a further letter to the Minister expressing dissatisfaction with the deeision. It had heen stated in the reply that the preserit system was not advis'able for the progress of fish and game opefations in the district. No fault was found v/ith the control exercised by the Coriservator of Fish and Game (Mr. A. Kean) as the club had always received every help from . this officer it was possible for him to give. To* these representatioris, the. Miiiister bad frirther repiied statirig that as the license fees for the* whole of the district was sqmething over £500 the increased liberation of game was not reasonable. He regretted that no change in the system of coritrol cpttid be considered. A further reply to the Minister bad so' far not been repiied to by him. Referririg to the fishing of the past season the president said that during the season the fishing bad iriifirbvfed to some exterit despite the fact that large fish were not frequently caught. Owing to the number of sarictuai-ies created, the shooting season had ribt been very successful. As a result of representatioris the limit size of a fish had been increased from teri tb tv/elve inches. Destructjoij of §Hags Mr. S. J. Tisdall asked if ariy rqpresentation had been made regarding the advancing of the fee for the destruetion of shags. The president said that the matter had been taken up with the department, biit that no reply had been received. Mr, Tisdall thereon irioved that the departpient bo again asked to iricrease. the fee i payable from one shilling to the original amount of 2s 6d. The motion was carried. Discussing the advisability qf continning to press for the formation o'f a board of control or pn acchmatisatipn sub-society, the opinion was expressed by several mqmb.ers that there was little chance of the department changing its earlier deeision. Mr. W. Lee moved that the. department he asked to liberate birds after the closing of the shooting season for breeding purposes. The motion was supported by Mr. Tisdall and carried, Advancing the Season Asked to indicate the policy o£ the club regarding a suggestion that the fishing season should be extended, the president said that when discussing the matter with the. Conservator of Fish and Game the latter had said that he did not consider his department would favour the suggestion: He considered the suggestion had been madb hy eertain parties who were anticipating one good season of heavy fish and not the sport' as a whole. The elub concurred with this view. The poor fishing at Tarawera during the past season also came up for discussion it being suggested that possibly too much stripping had been undertaken there. Election of Officers The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : — - Patron, Mr. C. H. Clinkard, M.P., president, Ma W. Lee.; vice-presid-ents, Messrs E. A. Meredith aiid H. Jones; auditor, Mr. J. H: Bpddle hon. secretary and treasurer; Mr. G. Anarri; eommittee, Messrs W. Currie, P. Butler, G. H. Redhead, Simpsbn, H. Winger, C. Pepper, Hitchens, Dowdney, J. H. Higgins and D. Geater. A hearty vote of thanks Was paSsed to Mr; Jbnes for his duties as presiderit during the past two years, Mr. Lee stating that the qutgoing president had been a very excellent officer. Mr. Redhead also eulogised Mr. Anaru's services as secretary-treasrirer, a motiori to pla.ee this bn tecbrd being passed hy acelamation. HatcKery at Ngongotaha Mr. Jories Suggested that the department should again he asked toproceed with the ereetioii of a riew hatchery at the back of Ngongotaha mountain. He also suggested that this should he a recommendation tq the incoming eommittee. His suggestion was adopted.
