WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

On Tuesday afternoon the monthly meeting of the Whakatane Women's Institute was held in the Parish Hall. There was an exceptionally good attendance. The meeting opened with the reading of the motto and the In-. stitute Creed. Mrs. L. Buddle gave a very interesting demonstration on Puff Pastry. The recitation', "The Kitcnen Clock," given by Mrs. E. Armstrong was appreciated by all present. Mr. W. E. Donnelly, who was the speaker for the afternoon, gave a very instructive tallc on India. An interesting competition "Date Scones" was won by Mrs. M. J. Fogarty, 1; Mrs. Haultain, 2; and Mrs. K. Stewart, 3. The hostesses for the . afternoon were Mesdames Canning, Fearon, Helligar and Miss Ramson.
