FORESTS AND IRRIGATION PROPOSED FOR ASHBURTON
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Ashburton, Wednesday. The Hon. Adam Hamilton has approved the county council scheme of afforestation and improvement of the water races in several portions of the Ashburton county. The ultimate idea of the latter is the development of a large area of irrigation to supply to practically every farm. The proposals were submitted by representatives of the Ashburton Borough and County Councils, the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce and the Canterbury Progress League.
