VALEDICTORY
MAJOR F. PLATT Major F. Platt, O.G. B Company, Hauraki Regiment, was last Wednesday evening the recipient of a presentation from members of the Whakatane territorials on the eve of his departure for Auckland. Lieut. N. Corcoran, in making the prcsentation, referiwl to the high standard of effieienc#attained by the local p'latoon of territorials while under the eommand of Major Platt. It was through the direct e-ndeavours of Major Platt that B Company had won the Hauraki Regimental Efficiency Shield during the last camp and it was regretted that he was unable to be present at the forthcoming military ball to accept the shield on behalf of his company. In reply, Major Platt, who was accorded an ovation, thanked the terri-. torials for their keen supp'ort and asked that his successor be given the same measure of enthusiasm as he had always received.
