LO\Y PRICES CAUSES BIG INGREASE IN OUTPUT

Huntly, Frida.y. The l'ow price at which coal is being offered by the Waikato Mining Company is having a benefieial effect as far as employment in th'is district is concerned. In order to cope with' the increased demand for coal more men are being re-engaged at the Rotowaro, Glen Afton and Renown collieries. The Renown colliery has taken on 50 extra men and Glen Afton 42, and by Monday, Renown colliery hopes to absorh all umemployed at Renown township and also a number in Huntly, Comprising between 30 and 40 men. The coal consignments at the railway have increased by a third of the , normal amount.
