Anderson took the chair at last evening's meeting of the management committee of the Rotorua Rugby Sub-union. The Okere team submitted the list , of its newly formed teams. With no exceptions the list was agreed to. Further registrations were granted for players for Whaka and Kahukura. Primary Schools (Rugby The secretary of the primary schools Rugby governing body (Mr. C. H. Ludgate) forwarded a draft of . the rules under which it had been | playing for the p-ast two years. The Convent School delegate (Mr. j Windeler) questioned the draft as he ! said that the Rotorua primary school invariably mustered three delegates instead of one. The Convent School had not yet received a copy of the draw and as the Primary Schools' Association had held its meeting on the same night as the Rugby Union
he had not been able to attend. He 1 complained that the Rotorua school had a delegate for each team and the secretary and chairman making four votes against one held by each of the other three schools. Mr. R. G. Webb advocated the union setting up a special committee to draw.up a set of rules for the administration of the primary schools competition and also to conduct the competition. The chairman said that his opinion it should be one school one vote. Mr. Windeler claimed that there was some dissatisfaction at the existing conditions. A motion on the lines of Mr. Webb's suggestion was carried, the personnel of the committee being Messrs W. Henderson, T. S. Robertson and A. G. Cottrell. Saturday's Draw The draw for Saturday is as follows: — Senior Waiariki v. Waikite, No. 1 ground, 2.50 p.m., Mr. Webb. Rotoiti v. Whaka, No. 2 ground, 2.50 p.m. Mr. A. Wallace. Junior High School v. Game With Australia Mr. .Robertson who arrived later, then reported upon the entertainment of the Australian University team. He said that the Australians were determined to have a match in two years' time for the Australian Var-.-ities against ihe Maoris, at Rotorua. This, he thought, was an excellent idea and good for Rotorua. A letter of thanks is to be sent from the union to those responsible for the Yarsity team's visit to Rotorua. Tnsurance Fund Mr. Webb reported that no insurance company in New Zealand would touch the injury of Rugby players. Taranaki had its own insurance system which was not a satisfactory one. Contributions came from a share o. the gates, and a sum of 3/- per season from each player. He thought that it was impossible for a subunion to run a scheme on its own.
Change of Practice Nights The Old Boys Club was granted a change of practice night from Tuesday to Thursday. Kahukura Protest Mr. E. Riggs, on behalf of the :Referees' Association protested at the Kahukura Club's letter concerning the late arrival of a referee. The chairman, said that the protest had been ruled out of order. Mr Webb said that he had thought from 'the report that the referee was at fault. _r The referee in the case, Mr. Youn , addressed the meeting at some length "•iving his reasons for objectmg to the club's letter stating that he was late coming on to the field. He blamed b'jth clubs for the game bemg startcd late. . ,, „ Mr Riggs wanted to re-open the subject of the Kahukura letter but the chairman ruled that the mattei was closed and a motion that Mi. Mr Cottrell voiced the opmion that the union would have considerable difficulties ahead when it came to regrading the junior teams. _ Mr Webb protested against any possibility of High School being classed in the junior B grade. His idea was that, as the school had to meet visiting school fifteens, they wished to meet heavier teams and get hardem . to meet the heavier visiting seconda-v school representatives. After a good deal of further dmcussion it was resolved to take no further action in respect to the classification of the junior grade. King's Birthday Match. The annual match High School v. Old Boys is to be played on June 3, the King's Birthday. . A request for a game against the Rotorua reps. was also received from Te Puke and permission from tne Waikato Union is to be sought.
