Rec. May 21, 5.5 p.ni. Perth, May 21. The Minister of Railways states that £500,000 is requir'ed to put the raihvays into safe running order. . Thirty-six locomotives are side tracked owing to lack of repair and eight ■' cars and wagons are similarly laid aside. The Minister says that the neglect arose despite official demands for attention, becaqse the previous Government desired to make a good financial showing. The Treasury is now empty and appeals are being made by ihe unemployed for relief work.
