BAY OF PLENTY FAJRMERS MEET AND CONFER MATTER OF SIDE .SHOWS

Whakatane, Thursday. .The Bay of Plenty Conference of : Agriculltuhal and Pastoral AsSociations was held in the County Ghambers, Whakatane on W'ednesday. There were present: — Messrs C. L. Luke/D. S: Ross, H. Cuff' (.Te Puke), T. W. Wardlaw, G. C. Peebles (Whakatane), O. Hume, E. Walford, C. A. Gee (Katikati), A. P. Wood (Tauranga), C. Black, S. M. Jephson, J. T. Clark, M. B. Abbott, C. T. Clark (Opotiki). Mr. T. H. Fearson, Opotiki, was secretary of the conference. Mr. Clem Black, president Opotiki A. and P.^ Assoeiation, .presided. The chairman lin welcominlg the delegates said it was pleasing to see such a good gatbering, every association in the Bay being represented. The levy made on associations last year was quite s&tisfactory and that they will come out about square. The question of side sbows! was still unsatisfactory especially dn the mattler of the allotting of space. He would like to have the results of the winners of the points prizes announced earlier and suggested that secPetaries should be a little more prompt in sending the result-s. The' balance sheet was read and adopted and the correspondenCe read and approved. Mr. A. C. Gee secretary of the Katikati A. and P. Society was elected secretary of the conference for the ensuing year. Mr. D. S. Ross, of Te Puke was elected delegate to the North Island Conference A. and P. Associatibns. The following show dates for 1934 were agreed upon: — Opotiki, Thursday, February 15; Whakatane, Tuesday, Februafy 20; Te Puke, Friday, February 23 > Tauranga, Wednesday, March 3. It was resolved that the next annual conference should take place at Whakatane, in conjunction with the op'ening of the Bay of Plenty Winter Show,
