BUDGET TO BE BALANCED Rec. May 19, 11.55 p.m. Capetown, May 19. . Dr. Matan retained Calvinia by a substantial majority, likewise Dr. Steenkemp at Namazualand. Colonel Wilkins was the only Independent returned. He captured a Transvaal rural seat. Six rural returns are still to come, and probably all will provide National-Coalitionists. The new house will consist of 131 Coalitionists, two Roosites, two Labourites and two Natal Revolutionists and five Independents, all mild Coalitionists. It is understood that the mines will contribute an extra £7,000,000 from the golcl premiums to the revenue, enabling the budget to be balanced.
