WAIMANA NOTES

Our Own Correspondent).

GIRL GUIDE CONCERT

(From

A very enjoyable concert programme was given by the Waimana Girl Guides in the Waimana Hall re.cently. The stage was decorated to represent a carnp fire around which the guides entertained their audience with the various items. A play "Amateur Cooks," written by Guide Bathia Luttrell caused much amusement and a scene from "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was also acted by Captain E. Westlake and some of the guides. The rest of the programme comprised songs, recitations and country dances. Extra recitations were given by Allison Finn, Ngaire Mitchell and Harvey Finn. The orchestra (piano, Aute and violin) played by Lieutenant E. Mitchell, Mr. F. Barnby, and Mr. W. Flowers respectively, accompanied all the songs and dances. A Aute solo and a Aute and violin duet played by Mr. Barnby and Mr. Flowers were also much appreciated. The singing of the National Anthem concluded the entertainment and the remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. A very tasty supper was served by the ladies of the committee.
