INTERESTING EXHIBITIQN OF MEMBERS' TREASURES A new note was struck by the Otara Women's -Institute at its meeting on Friday last when it staged an exhibition of "Members' Treasures" at the end of the afternoon. Mrs. Morice presided ov-er an excellent attendance, the meeting being opened, as usual, with the- recital of the "Women's Creed" and the singing of the "Institute Song" Mrs. McDonald playing the organ accompaniment. Before dealing with the general business of the afternoon the president voiced the sympathy of the in- ; stitute with lately bereaved members and after the general business had been dealt with two new members were elected and a roll call of biseuit making receipts was well answered, followed by a general exI change of written receipts. [ Mrs. C. Hamhly of the Opotiki Institute, then sang "Down Here" and ji as an encore "Passing By" after which there was a pikelet making competition which was won by Miss E. Lowe with Mrs. A. Vanstone second. ! After a dainty afternoon tea had been served hy the hostesses (Mesdames Earp, Hndson and Wingate), Mrs. Morice gave a most interesting 1 demonstration of apple preserving , with sulphur which was much appreciated by everyone. Mrs. A. Reid's competition of "Opotiki Street Names" was won by Mrs. Russell.
