Peculiar Earth Tremor A peculiar earth tremor was experienced at Opotiki about 2.15 a.m. on Saturday. Without previous Warning a sharp jolt was felt. Two residents deseribed it as "an upwards or downwards movement," and "like someone giving the wbole house a hump." There was a faint rumble and tremble af terwards, but th'at' was all, Another peculiar feature about it was tbat those that felt it, all tliought of it as a purely local disturbance.
