MAJESTIC THEATRE
TO-NIGHT. When Stuart Palmer wrote "The Penguin Pool Murder" and conceived its occurrence in th'e New York Aquarium, he provided Hollywood with the ideal murder mystery plot. The story has a wealth of thrills deftly interwoven with high-powered laughs, which h'ave been faithfully elaborated in RKO-Radio Pictures' film version, which opens. at the Majestic Theatre to-night. The pfcture belongs to that delightful actress, Edna May Oliver. She lifts it in those long, cap'able arms | and carries it jauntily at the head j ofr the parade. Trailing closely behind, abreast of her at times, are James Gleason, Robert Armstrong, Mae Clarke, Donald Cook and Clarence Hummel Wilson. Im'agine Misg Oliver as a school teacher turned sleuth, working hand | in hand with James Gleason, a police insp-ector, toward the solution of an amazing murder, and you have a slight perception of the laughs and thrills "The Penguin Pool Murder" has in store for you. The setting alone swings the picture out of the ordinary. In duplicating the New York Aquarium, the producers performed a miracle in motion picture set building. His authenticity adheres to the most minute details, even to Oscar, the penguin, and the seals. _ j Th'e story is plausible, logical, fast- , moving, surprising. Director George ' Archainbaud handled it with his usual i dexterity and sense of dramatic rea- | lity. Some of the camera work is j amazingly well done and brilliantly j conceived.
