TE PUKE HOCKEY CLUB

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The .annual general meeting of the Te Puke Hockey Club was held in Chapman's premises on Tuesday night, there being a good attendance of players and supporters of the game. The minutes of the last general meeting were read and confirmed. The retiring president, Mr. E. Hartshorne, stated in his report on the report on thje lactdvities ofthe season. that the Te Puke teams

had competed creditably in the competitions for the Kusabs Shield and the Ellison Cup, and had won the Kirikiri Cup and the Kirikiri Shield in the seven-a-side tournament which was held in Te Puke towards the close of last season. The election of officers for the coming season resulted as follows: — Patron: Mr. Geo. Budge; president, Mr. E. Hartshorne; vice-presidents, Messrs D. George, R. Tanner, E.> H. Wilkins, W. Burt, and J. Attrill; secretary, Mr. F. Chapman; treasurer, Miss Ngaire Webber; club captains, Miss Lena Tanner and Mr. E. Hartshorne; selectors, Messrs Hartshorne and Chapman; committee, Misses L. Tanner, N. Webber, J. Tanner, E. Keys, and M. Neilson. Messrs Hartshorne, Chapman, W. Pile, K. Dunlop, B. Wichman, K. MacFarlane and G. Healey. It was decided that the ladies team should affiliate with the Rotorua Association as in the past, but that the men's team should this year affiliate with Whakatane, with a view to competing in the White Horse competition °at Auckland during Country Week. Mr. Watts was appointed delegate at Rotorua for the ladies team, and Mr. Roy Bridger, delegate at Whakatane for the men's team. It was decided that the subscriptions be 2/6 as in previous years, and that any members whose subscriptions were outstanding on June 3 would be permitted to play for the club, till their subscriptions were paid. On the motion of Miss L. Tanner it was decided to open the season on Wednesday, May 17, with a fancy dress hockey match. Arrangements were made for a dance in aid of thc club's funds, to be held in the Paengaroa Hall on May 10. The secretary was instructed to en deavour to arrange for both' men' and ladies' teams to visit Rotorua o? June 3, as in previous year. The sec retary read a letter from the Tau ranga Hockey Association, relative t a proposal to hold an annual confer ence between the associations inter ested in the Kusabs Shield compet tions. After discussion it was decide that the Te Puke Club should agre to the proposal, and that the secre.. ary should write to the Tauranga As soeiation, suggesting Te Puke as th-_ most convenient centre for the prc posed conference to meet. Messrs Hartshorne and Chapman were appointed delegates to the conference.
