Club Prospects.
Although it is likely that for various reasons the number of clubs competing ih the two cup competitions will be lower this year than during the previous season^ the calibre of the teams already entered for the Robertson Cup series commencing to-mor-row indicate that the standard of play will be much bigher and stirrlng tustles for supremacy are promised. While conceding that during the last two seasons the strength,of the Whippets Club fell far below the standard expeeted, it is with regret, however, that the disbanding of the club this year is announced. The fact that several of As players have left the district no doubt made this step necessary, but for those who remain it is hoped that their -services will be utilised by stronger clubs. Of the four teams so far entered, it is difficult at this early stage to prophesy the strongest team, but providing its strength can be maintained, Shamroek3 will no doubt again be well in thc limelight at tbe conclusion of the round. Witb E. Mitehell and Kurapai Reweti in the fullback positions, the team will have a solid last line of defence and opposing forwards will need all the skill within their knowledge to pass this pair. The halves, including T. Mitchell and R. Ratema, should also he well up to standard, and the forwards, led by Mattie Mitchell, Hana Mitchell and M. Black (late Whippets) also appear a solid combination.
