SEEKING SETTLEMENT

IMPORTANCE OF DEBT Rec. April 26, 8 p.m. New York, April 25. The New York Times' political eorrespondent states: "Whether Mr. Roosevelt's ideas or Mr. MacDonald's ideas have predominated in the recent discussions could not be learned, but it is probable that both had a definite hand in shaping the policy which they feel France would accept, and while the British are not quite so buoyantly optimistic to-night as they were yesterday, they gave every indication of being satisfied as to the way things are going. "Debts were diseussed to-day, but it was stated that no nation would prejudice other important issues merely for debt questions. That a basis for debt settlement, however, is being sought seems to be implied, despite the reticence of those who know what oecurred round the conference tables."
