BOARD HAS NO CONTROL IN REGARD TO SELLING FORWARD SALES COMPLAINT
-By Telegraph — Copyright).
Dunedin, Monday. Referring to the complaint that certain firms handling New Zealand butter were off er ing large quantities on tho London market below current values, a local member of the Dairy Board stated that since there was no compulsory marketing the board had no say. Certainly forward selling of big holdings would force prices down. However, the consignors gave the agents definite handling instructions and it appeared that the board could not interfere. A representative of a large selling agency stated that most of the. sensational statements on forward saies were made on behalf of controllists, but he hoped New Zealand had had sufficient of the disastrous experience of a controlled market. The selling agents sold forward when there was an anticipated market drop.
