ANNUAL MEETING

LOSSES ON PROPERTY At the conclusion of the quarterly meeting of the Rotorua' Fire Board the annual meeting was' held, Mr. F. Goodson again presiding.

Presenting his annual report tne Sup'erintendent, Mr. T. Anderson, said that 22 calls had, been received during the year, a decrease of seven on the previous year's totaL These were comprised as follows: Eight fires, m buildings; seven chimney fires, one electric stove; three motor cars, one motor cycle; one grass fire and one false alarm. Statistics of values! of properties, insurances and estimated loss weie given as follows: — Estiniiated loss on property covered by insurance £954 10s. Estimated loss on contents covered by insurance £541 0s 2d. Total £1495 10s 2d. . Estimated loss on buildings not m.sured £48. . Estimated loss on contents not msured, £10. Total £58. Estimated value of property _ on which fires occurred £47001; estimated value of contents on which fires occurred £4553 17s. Total £51,354 17i&. Insurance on property on which

fires occurred £28,935; msruance un contents on which fires occurred £3305. Total £32,240. 7 , The No. 1 Dennis machine had covered 82 miles during tha year, making a total mileage of 727 miles. A total of 240 feet of hose was in commisisdon with 28 pairs of couplings. The automatic ■ street fire alarm system had been regularly tested and was in first class order as also was the electric isyren. The strength ^ of the brigade totalled 20 comprising one superintendent, one deputy superintendent, two foremen, one pqrmanent station officer, 14 firemen and one messenger. During the year a total of 74 musters were held, the average muster being 16 men. The loyalty of the Drigade had been a feature o± the vear's work.

In concluding his report the superintendent thanked the chairman and members of the board, the _ secr.etary, waterworks engmeer, electrical super intendent, police and traflfic inspector for their help during the period. The superintendent was congratulated upon his fine report and the brigade congratulated on its success _ m winning the Chilton and Hawkins Cups and Brereton Shield at demonitrations during the year. _ Mr. F. Goodson was unanimously re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. . . ... [ Eistimates of expenditure for the t year ending March 31, 1934 amounting to £1036 14s lld were considered and approved.
