The Financial News in a leader says: "If President Roosevelt "is aim-/ ing deliberately at creating complete chaos as a proper prelude to a new order he possibly has acted rightly, L>ut in the economic world such revolutionary sabotage never has been effective. Britain abandoned gold as a 'last ditch' expedient, whereas America has done it with the. situation entireiy under control. "The whole business undoubtedly has been planned in cold blood and is primarily a piece of diplomatic blackmail. "It is especially deplorable that such d'estructive action should have •been taken when Mr. Ramsay MacDonald and his advisers were aetually on the Atlantic."
