TALENTED SINGER
MISS JULIE RUSSELL TO APPEAR IN ROTORUA "A dramatic soprano of surprising range and flexibility," is the description of the voice of Miss Julie Russell given by the Waikato Times music critic, who had the pleasure of attending a recital given by this talented singer at the Civic Theatre on April 5. Last year Miss Russell was a distinguished member* of the J. C. Willlamson Grand Opera Company and she had a most pleasing reeeption in all her roles. Her voice has beautiful quality and timbre and she sings with great artistry, getting the best out of each of her numbers. Two numbers which won instant approval in Hamilton were "I Wonder if Love is a Dream," and "Put Out the Lights" (a quaintly humorous song), and during the brief season during which Rotorua audiences will have the opportunity of hearing her, she intends to present these and other numbers. Miss Russell is booked to appear 'at the Majestic Theatre on Friday and Saturday of this week and those who attend her recital are assured of a definite musical treat from this budding prima donna.
