ANNUAL MEETING OF ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY The annual balance sheet of the Opotiki Orchestral Society revealed a most satisfactory position when read at the annual meeting held on Thursday evening. The balance of assets over liabilities was £46 9s 2d for the year. In view of the fact that the orchestral society has only been in existence for twelve months, this is a most satisfactory position and shows that the movement is appreciated by the general public of whom over a hundred were present at the meeting at which Mr. J. R. Sinclair presided. After the orchestra had given a short programme, the election of officers was held, resulting as follows: — President, Mz*. Delatour; vice-presi-dents, Messrs H. Roland and E. Bunkall; conductor, Mr. Ian Thompson; secretary, Mr. Auld; treasurer, Mr. R. H. Semple; auditor, Mr. Edmonds; solicitor, Mr. J. B. Murray; committee, Mesdames N. Potts and Duff, Miss L. Gordon, Mr. J. R. Sinclair, Mr. H. G. Reeves. The subscription was fixed at 10s 6d as before. It was reported that there were 20 members in the orchestra and 75 subscribing, members. The ftrst concert is to be held on May 2 to open the- 1933 season.
