Auckland, Friday: An uiiusual charge was bfought to-day by the Auckland Law Society » against Lewis A. Tozef, company director, and also against his 'company. Ih effect the charge was that, not being a licensed bfokef bf *a b'ar- ' rister and solicitnr, he falsely pre- - -tended that he was entitled to tfanSaet land transfer business. The prosecution said defendant had sent out circulars intimating that he conld, and would for £l, plus dis: bursements, get a person a full iahd transfer title. Defendant said his company merely acted as agents. They did no conveyancing but merely received registrars' minutes and registered theni. They drew no documents. The magistrate said defendant ought to know that he could not transact such business without being licensed as a broker. Defendant and the company wefe 'each fined JiO.
