AVERAGE BEEF YARDING UNDER DEMAND AT WESTFIELD / RANGE OF QUOTATIONS

Auckland, Wednesday. The New Ze-aland Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: — To-day, at Westfield, beef was pened in average numbers. Lighter weight cattle sold at above late rates. Heavyweights were lower in value. Extra choice ox sold to 19s 6d per 1001b., choice and prime 16s to 18s, secondary 13s to 15s, prime young cow and heifer beef 14s to 18s, secondary 7s to 13s. Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £6 to £7, lighter £5 2s '6d to £5 17s 6d, light £4 7s 6d to £5; unfinished and small £3 5s to £4 5s, heavy prime young cows and heifers £4 to £4 15s, lighter £3 to £3 17s 6d, light 45s to 57s 6d, other 25s to 42s 6d.
