BENEFIT TO COMMONWEALTH Canberra, April 1. A hint that the Brjtish 'Government having hroken off trade neigotiations with the .Soviet, will impoise an embargo on Russian goods, was given iin the House of Representatives by the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr. J. G. Lathiaan, who said he, had. received information that an important piece of legislation relating to trade with Russia would be introduced in the House of Commons . either yesterday or today. This action would have a beneficial effect- on Australian and New Zealand trade with Britain, and mitgiht even make the proposed restriction on Australian and New Zealand hutber exports to Britain unnecessary. London, March 31. In connection with Mr. Latham's conclu-.ion that Britain is imposing an immediate embargo on Russia, it is understood that a decision had been virtualily reached when some Ministers, becoming lapprehensive, urged a postp'onement until Sir E. Overy returned. The Press Aissociation, however, states that an embargo is still possible.
