ROMANCE NOT DEAD
PRINCE AND TOWN SM AID. "The romantic marriage of Ffaulein Irma Erfert, daughter of a petty official who was once Mayor of Stolberg, and his Serene Highness Prince Wolff Heinrich of Stolberg-Stolberg, Count of Konigstein and Hohnstein, Lord of Agimont, Clettenberg, and Lohra, wais celebrated recently in the chapel of the palace on the hill which has been the residenee of th'e prince's ancestors for 700 years ( states the Daily Mia.il). "Romance is not dead, and the films do not lie. That I discovered last night when the citizens of Stolberg come in procelssion, carrying torches, up to the hill from their homes in the j medieval streets to the courtyard of | the palace to cheer their prince. The spirit of romance seemed to fill the ; town, and when they returned the inns were crowded hy jolly people wh'o I toasted the bride and bridegroom in I the beer served free to them 'at the prince's expense. 'And the sight of the young prince and the girl in white with a wxeath of myrtle in her hand, standing before the altar of the .chapel this morning to plight their troth, So serious, so ahsorhed in each other, wias the final proof that romance h'as not been driven from our world. "Four years ago the prince and the Mayor's daughter met and fell in love. She was then acting as mother's help in a family with which he was staying. The prince's father died before he was. born, and his mother died when he was 15. Except for an elder sister, he was alone in the world. El-derly j relatives, filled with the pride of their i race, desired to see him married to a ; girl of high degree, and amhitious ! marriage plans were put before him. i He set them all aside and has married j the girl of his heart. i "After the ceremony in the chapel the bride and bridegroom went to the j great hall of the p'alace, where the ( town'is. notahilities offered their con- t gratulations." ! - I
