SPIRIT OF POTSDAM
SALVATION TO GERMANY Rec. March 22, 7 p.m. Berlin, March 22. The Crown Prince in the uniform of the Death's Head Hussars, occupied the diplomats' box close to the Polish Minister. Diplomats and dignitaries sat in the press circle. After the Socialists' motion demanding the release of the nine arrested deputies had been referred to the committee, Herr Goerring condemned the crime which compelled the Reichstag to depart from the edifice built for the German people. Herr Goerring extolled Herr Hitler as the hero of the national resurgente, and appealed to the people to rebuild the solidarity of the Fatherland in the dawn of a new era. Herr Goerring passionately declared: "We shall he inspired by the spirit of Potsdam which enahled us to hold the world at bay for four years. It means cleanliness, diseipline and work. It is not a spirit of the barrack room as is sometimes imagined." Nothing but applause punctuated tbe speech. The House adjourned until March 23, the Socialists filing out dejectedly, amid cheers for Herr Hitler. President Hindenburg will to-mor-row sign the emergency decree granting an amnesty for political offences due to national motives, also a decree providing imprisonment for malicious attacks on the Government by unauthorised possession of party uniforms, and for the dissemination of news prejudicial to Germany 's welfare.
