VALEDICTORY MISS E. PATTLE FAREWELLED , BY, HER MANY FRIENDS. SOCIAL EVENING AT VICARAiGE.

The choir and Sunday school teachers of St. Stephen's Church' assembled together at the Vicarage on Thursday night to bid farewell to Miss IE. Pattle, who will be leaving 'Opotiki next weelc. The gathering took the form of a social evening, pinigl-pong and cards being played. Mr. Ian Thompson was | winner of tlie ping-pong. Games and competitions added to the fun. After supper was served, the Rev. C. G. G. Salt, on behalf of those present ,express>ed regret at Miss Pattle's departure and wished her the happiest of times in her1 new home. Miss Pattle suitably responded. "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow" j and "Auld Lang Syne" hrought the evening to a close. j W.C.T.U. FUNCTION. i The W.C.T.U. held a "pay-up" afI ternoon in St. John's Hall on Thursday af ternoon, Mrs. J. T. Thompson presiding. Competitions were contributed by Mrs. C. Hambly and Miss M. McLeod, after which afternoon tea was served, | Mesdames Downey and T. Ahbot being hostesses.
