CHINESE MACHINE GUNS WREAK HEAVY SLAUGHTER LULL ON THE FRONT
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Peking, February 28. A Japanese offieial communique states that the Japanese are still pounding away at the Paishihtsumem Pass, with eoncemtrated artillery. The defenders are so snugly entrenehed in the hillsides, however, that the Japanese are unable to make headway. The Chinese held their fire as the Japanese repeatedly charged up the pass, only to be mowed down by machine guns almost at point-blank range. Chinese reports indicate a lull on the major part of the entire front during the past twenty-four hours.
