GRAND THEATRE

TO-NIGHT. Blending a pronounced note of romance with adventure and aetion, "Mystery Ranch," Fox Films production with that popular star of outdoor pictures, George O'Brien, in the leading role, opens at the Grand Theatre to-night. « "Mystery Ranch," based on Stewart Edwai'd White's virile' story, "The Killler," depicts the adv'entures of a handsome young member of the Arizona Rangers who is detailed to'exterminate a hand of cattle thieves and end th'e reign of terror brought about by the domination of the leader of the renegade-s. How the young ranger accomplishes his mission and how, in the face of many dangers he saves a captiVe girl, nnfolds a plot •that is said to move swiftly to a thrilling climax. But for the fact that O'Brien is an cutstanding athlete, versed in feats of strength, boxing, running, jumping, and in the skilful handling of a gun as well as in feats of horsemanship he would be unable to meet the demands of his role in this picture. It requires more than "iRiders of the Purple Sage," "Lone Star Ranger," "Last of the Duanes" or any of the other outdoor romances in which he has portrayed the leading x-ole. Cecilia Parker, one of the newer blonde beauties of the screen, enacts the leading feminine role. A graduate of the dramatic school maintained at the Fox studio, Miss Parker made her screen debut opposite O'Bi-ien in "The Rainbow Trail." She is the only leading woman to support O'Brien a second time since he hegan his successful series of outdoor pictures. Charles Middleton, who appears as the menace, has been playing such' roles for many years. He will be recalled as th'e lawyer in "An American Tragedy." Another well-known chaxacter acter in the cast is Noble Johnson, who plays the role of a mute Indian.
