GUIDES AND RANGERS
The Opotiki Girl Guide company met recently in the Parish Hall under the command of Captain Morell and Lieutenants D. McNee and E. Pattle. After inspection, the guides were given second-class wox-k as most of the coxnpany are now studying for their second-class badge. It was decided to parade to St. Johxx's Church on Sunday. The singing • of "taps" concluded the meeting. The Opotiki Ranger company has spent most of its meetings practising badge work and at the last parade Nurse Pickett, district nurse, presented members with their badges. Mr. J. H. Lee donated a sum of money for bandages and also for splints for the rangers' first aid use. The girls were disappointed over not being able to be taken for their swimming badge work on Wednesday as the day was very wet and the rivers in flood. Mr. -Ormandy had offered to instruct them. A letter received from Sister Harris, stated that a parade for scouts and guides would be'held in the town hall on March 26. The rangers have been holding special parades at Mrs. Martin's residence, so that second-class work could be learnt.
