WAIMANA COMMITTEE

! A meeting of the Waimana Scout Committee was held on Monday at Mr. M. H. Finn's residence. All members being present, Mr. H. H. Finn presiding. The resignation of Mx\ H. Tills, secretary, was received with x*egret. Mr. ii. Finn was elected to fill the vacancy. Mrs. Hewitt and Mr. J. Mitchell were elected new members of the committee.

Mr. S. Miller, group scoutmaster, of the Whakatane troop1, kindly came out and explained matters pertaining to the scout movement, fox- which' a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. It was decided to ask Mr. W. Fowers, of the Post and Telegraph Department to take over the duties of scoutmaster rendered vacant by the resignation of the Rev.- Benhanx, who has left the district. A Cub Pack will be started and Mr. McDonald has kindly consented to act as cubmaster for the time being. Further inquiries are to be made regarding the use of the vacant hall in the township for scout parades and Mr. Finn and J. nTovfi o-ivpn nnwp.r to act.

Troop parades are to be held evex'y alternative Friday evening; and Saturday -afternoon. Hope was expressed that the Waimana troop would be able to take part in the rally to be held-at Tauranga about August. A sug(gestion that tho Igoop join in with Whakatane and Taneatua troopvs' week-end camp to be held at Taneatua from Friday evening March 3 until the Sunday was agreed upon. The assistant scoutmaster, Roy Roberts, reported that with' the help of Mr. McDonald the troop is showing progress and the boys are very keen, and he hoped that they would soon be able to get another scoutmaster and sure they would then have every future success. The meeting concluded with a resolution being .passed that the committee meet bi-monthly.
