Permit Refused. The Rotorua Borough Council at its meeting on "Wednesday decided to refuse permission to Mo.ses* Morrison to erect a stall for the sale of pois and other Maori curios at Whakarewarewa. ! I Months' Meat Supply The killings in the Rotorua Munieipal Abhatoir during January amounted to 60 cows, 67 oxen, 9 calves, 543 sheep, 289 lambs and 84 pigs. Helping Out Of Work Soldiers. The Rotorua Borough Council has agreed to find £15 which is to he subsidised to a like amount by the Rotorua Returned Soldiers' Association to provide woi'k for returned soldiers. Street Stall. Permission has been granted the Rotorua brahch of the plunket society to hold a street stall in aid of the society 's activities on March 4 in Tutanekai Street.
Bath Tickets Members of the Rotorua Amateur Swimming Cluh are notified that it is now possible for tlrem to ohtain concession tickets for use at the Blue Bath. The price for 12 swims is 4s. Public Meeting. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. Thos. Jackson, has convened a public meeting to be held in th-e Grand Theatre tomorrow, Sunday evening, at 8.30 to consider the question of the position of relief workers in Rotorua The sustenance payments to relief work- | ers have been reduced to such an amount that it is quite impossible for families to more than barely exist, and this meeting is called in the hope that public sympathy may be aroused and a request made to the Government that conditions be improved.
Opotiki Stock Sale. In this issue the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., advertise particulars of a stock sale to he held at Opotiki on Thursday. This sale should be of great interest to all farmers as the majority of the sheep offered are from A. E. Blake's Hoata station, while the cattle comprise good station lines from Maungaroa, Houpoto and Hoata stations on the East coast. Clock Cabinets on Streets. A request from Mr. T. K. Thompson for permission to erect clock cabinets which were to carry a eertain amount of advertising matter on them at the corners of Wairoa Road and Fenton Street and Lake- Road and Ranolf Street was on Wednesday referred by the Rotorua Borough Council to its legal and finance committee. At the same time the committee was instrueted to go into the matter of the rubbish bins in the streets which councillors remarked were now in a dila,pidated condition and were no longer things of.beauty.
Soldiers' Farewell Dance. ' By special request the manage- j ment of "Dixieland" have decided to hold an Old Time Dance at "Dixieland" to-night. Novelty dances such as Spot Waltz and a soldiers' fox trot competition in addition to two Monte Carlos are on the programme. A total of eight very useful prizes will be distributed. Light supper is jprovided. Dancing commences at 7.45 p.m. until midnight. Admission: Gents 1/-, Ladies 6d.*
Harvest Thanksgiving at St. Luke's Next Sunday the annual Harvest Thanksgiving Services will be held at St. Lukefe Church.
