WOULD-BE ASSASSIN FIRES SIX SHO.TS AT PARTY MAYOR OF CIIICAGO JIIT

| . Rec. Feb. 16, 7. p.m. Maimi, Feb. 15. An unsuccessful attempt was mad'e to-day to assassinate the President-elect, Mr. Franklin Roosevelt. Five shots were fired, but he escaped injury. The Mayor j of Chicago, Mr. Anton Kermac, was hit by one' of the bullets. His I injuries are ujndetermined but are | serious. The shots Were fired into | the Roosevelt party. Mr. Kermac I was standing 20 feet from Mr. ' Roosevelt in a street of Maimi when the shooting occurred. Mrs. Joseph Gill, wife of the president of the Florida Power and Light Company, was also wound'ed. The would-be assassin was arrested by a secret service man who was wounded when the shooting occurred. Mr. Roosevelt had just returned from a vacation on his yacht in the Bahamas.
