PUBLIC OPINION

APPRECIATION (To the Editor.) Sir, — -The proceeds from the street collection taken on Saturday for the Rotorua Boys' Band totalled £8 7s 6d. On behalf of the executive and the boys I wish to thank those who so generously supported us. We wish, also to thank the Rotorua Boy Scouts who, under the direction of AssistantScoutmaster J. Alexander, helped the members of the band in making the collections during the early part of the day; also those members of the Rotorua Municipal Band who passed the boxes round while the boys were playing during the evening, and were there to assist in any way they could. Our thanks are also due to the management of the Majestic Theatre for announcing the collection; to Mr. Bonnington for generously writing a banner; the "Morning Post" -for giving publicity to the collection, and to Mr. and Mrs. Farren, who kindly provided refreshment for the boys. I feel before concluding this letter that I must compliment tbe bandmaster, Lieutenant E. Tregilgas on the excellent way in which the boys rendered their items, altbough he, and several of the boys had already had a strenuous day with the Municipal Band on the racecourse. — I am, 6tc 1 O. H. COLEMAN. President, Rotorua Boys .Band (Inc.)
