PRISONERS SENTENCED AT PALMEllSTON NORTH

Palmerston N., Monday. In the Supreme Court to-day, Mr. Justice McGregor sentenced William Charles Norman, who was found guilty of assault and causing actual bodily harm and theft at Levin, to 12 months detention with reformative treatment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. His Honour ordered that the accused be kept under medieal supervision. Victor James Jameson, on three charges of theft at Palmerston North, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be eumulative and was declared a habitual criminal. Barney Vincent Reardon, for break ing, entering and theft, and for theft was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard labour. Thomas Frederick Ellis, on two charges of issuing valueless "cheques, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent, and he was declared an habitual criminal.
