STEADY PROGRESS

1000 MILES TRAVERSED Rugby, February 6. Throughout the day periodical wire less reports have been received at the Air Ministry, London, from the non-stop plane. From the starting point at the Cranwell aerodrome, Lincolnshire, to Capetown the distance is 6*198 miles. The Fairey Napier machine weighs 72, tons fully loaded and she carries 1000 gallons of petrol. Special tyres were designed to carry the machine's great weight. It has numerous novel features in design. At 5.40 Greenwich mean time, the machine had travelled over 1000 miles and was then passing the Southern end of Sardinia.
