London, February 6. A non-stop flight to Capetown in a Royal Air Force monoplane was begun at 7.12 a.m. to-day from Cranwell, after two years' delay due to accidents and unfavourable weather. Squadron-Leader Gayford and Flight-Lieutenant G. E Nicholette are conducting the flight. They will endeavour to break the record of the Ame.ricans, Boardman and Poiando, who flew non-stop from New Yorlc to Constantinople (4984 miles) in 1931. Squadron-Leader Gayford. and Flight-Lieutenant Nicholette, are assisted by a third pilot, a robot, which will enable them to leave their seats and keep the correet course with perfect safety. A hammock slung in the cabin enables eithe.r pilot to rest. The route is over Paris, Corsica, Sardinia, Tunisia, Libya, French West Africa, Nigeria, French Equatorial Africa, Zesfontein and Cape St. Martha.
